Serpents of the Molten Sea

Habitat

The Draupax resides within the hottest landscapes in the Nether, literally within molten rock. They dwell deep in the lava pits, though they may sometimes be found hunting or nesting nearby.

Physiology:

These beasts take on the form of a twisted sea creature. A long tail, dolphin-esque body and a nigh impenetrable red hide are their most prominent features. They are found often swimming through magma with a distinctive grace, often only just visible on the bubbling surface. They have the ability to slither onto land like massive snakes, though they rarely linger there for long. They have powerful maws, strong enough to buckle steel. Some Draupax who find themselves in service to powerful devils replace their jaws and teeth with prosthetics able to pierce steel, as their natural teeth aren't quite resilient enough for that. Some have eyes dot all throughout their bodies, others have just the usual two or three, while others still are totally blind. Newly born Draupax are around three feet long, and while there are legends that some grow to be hundreds of feet long, most are merely in the 10-30ft range.

Behavior

They are generally quite passive, roaming up and down the lava surfaces, unless something strays too close to their nesting grounds. They will then turn aggressive and choose to hunt their stalkers. They are natural enemies of the Underlins, often found fighting over territory or food. You could probably ride one, if you're alright with dying for the experience. Young Draupax can be found as eggs, extremely thick to prevent them from being accidentally crushed by their massive mother.
