THE HAUNTING OF ZIK

Zik's ears start shaking. His paws stretch out suddenly, nails bare, batting the air. His tail flicks angrily as the hairs on his entire body stand up and with a loud yowl he wakes in a cold sweat. These nightmares have got to stop... He shakes and stretches to rid himself of the unpleasant memories as he has done countless times before, but today they refuse to let go. He rubs his face with his paw, when his adrenaline suddenly spikes. 

"Zik! ZIK! You live because we died, Zik..."

His wide eyes dart through the room in search of the all too familiar voice, but there is no source. There is no doubt he heard the voice while being wide awake. He jumps to his feet, rushes into his boots, and runs up to the deck of his ship. The cold sea breeze of the night whips around his fur and takes his fears with it. A sigh of relief, but he's too tense to go back into that room. Not until the daylight returns, after breakfast time, at the very least...
