Full Name: Jerr'co of Hakiaz
Race: Earthspawn
Gender: Male
Height: 7'0"
Weight: 380 lbs
Occupation: Hunter
Divine Standing: Champion of Theodra
Jerr'co is a towering Earthspawn standing seven feet tall and weighing roughly three hundred and eighty pounds. He possesses a broad, heavily muscled frame shaped by years of hunting, travel, craftsmanship, and survival.
His skin is a deep red, while his bright yellow eyes give him a naturally intense and predatory appearance. His body bears the scars of a life spent pursuing dangerous quarry, with some of those scars having healed into pale, silvery-white marks associated with the influence of Theodra.
Jerr'co is stoic and disciplined by nature. He speaks when there is something worth saying and has little interest in boasting, idle conversation, or unnecessary displays of bravado. Patience, preparation, and observation are central to nearly everything he does.
Despite his intimidating appearance, Jerr'co is not needlessly violent. He views hunting as a craft that demands judgment, restraint, knowledge, and purpose. To him, killing without reason is not hunting.
He places great value on competence and craftsmanship, particularly when it comes to weapons and tools. Mastery is something earned through repetition, failure, refinement, and patience.
He respects those willing to learn and generally has more patience for an inexperienced student than for someone arrogant enough to believe they have nothing left to learn.
Jerr'co is an exceptionally skilled hunter with experience pursuing quarry across a wide range of environments.
He understands how to stalk prey, anticipate its movements, study its behavior, and recognize when to press an attack or simply wait.
To Jerr'co, the hunt begins long before a weapon is ever drawn.
Jerr'co is highly skilled at reading the signs left behind by those he pursues.
Footprints, disturbed soil, broken vegetation, blood, scent, displaced stones, feeding patterns, changes in animal behavior, and countless other details can all contribute to a trail.
He possesses the patience necessary to follow difficult quarry for as long as the hunt requires.
Jerr'co is accustomed to spending extended periods beyond settled lands.
He is knowledgeable in navigation, shelter construction, trapping, foraging, hunting, food preparation, butchery, preservation, and the many practical skills needed to survive in difficult wilderness conditions.
Jerr'co is proficient with a wide range of weapons.
He does not believe in forcing every problem to fit a favored weapon. Different prey require different tools, and a good hunter must be willing to adapt.
He strongly favors ranged combat when circumstances permit but is highly capable in close quarters.
Jerr'co is a master bowyer with extensive practical knowledge of bow construction.
He understands material selection, stave preparation, reinforcement, limb geometry, tillering, stringing, draw weight, and the relationship between a bow and the individual intended to wield it.
His approach to bowmaking is methodical and exacting. Every bow has a purpose, and every part of its construction should reflect that purpose.
His own warbow remains the clearest demonstration of his craftsmanship.
Jerr'co's signature weapon is an enormous warbow with a draw weight of approximately four hundred pounds.
The bow was constructed by Jerr'co himself and designed specifically around his immense size and physical strength.
It launches correspondingly heavy arrows with tremendous force, allowing Jerr'co to engage exceptionally large, durable, or dangerous quarry from range.
The weapon is not merely oversized. Its design, materials, reinforcement, and balance were all carefully considered to endure the extraordinary forces placed upon it.
It serves as both Jerr'co's primary weapon and one of his greatest achievements as a bowyer.
For close combat, Jerr'co carries a massive warhammer whose head resembles an oversized meat tenderizer.
The weapon is built around overwhelming impact rather than elegance.
It is particularly useful against heavily armored opponents, thick-boned creatures, and quarry resistant to cutting or piercing weapons.
Where the bow is precise, the hammer is final.
Jerr'co carries several blades fashioned from bone.
They vary in size and purpose. Some serve as practical hunting tools used for skinning, butchering, carving, or other field work, while others are intended specifically for close combat.
Rather than relying upon a single knife, Jerr'co prefers to keep several blades suited to different tasks.
Jerr'co carries the equipment necessary to sustain himself during prolonged hunts away from civilization.
His gear includes tools for maintaining weapons, preparing kills, establishing shelter, tracking quarry, and surviving in difficult environments.
He favors practical equipment over ornamentation and rarely carries anything without a purpose.
Jerr'co is a devoted follower of Theodra, the Lawbringer, Goddess of the Hunt, Law, and Wisdom.
He holds Theodra in the utmost respect.
His devotion is sincere and deeply rooted, and becoming one of her Champions represents one of the greatest honors of his life.
Jerr'co does not allow his faith to erase his identity as an individual, hunter, or craftsman, but Theodra's teachings strongly influence the way he understands the hunt and his responsibilities to others.
He strives to follow her tenets:
Jerr'co interprets these principles through action rather than ceremony.
The hunt should have purpose. Wisdom should be useful. Strength should protect rather than merely dominate. And when a creature becomes an irreconcilable threat to those unable to defend themselves, it becomes quarry.
Jerr'co has progressed through the ranks of Theodra's Blessed and now stands as one of her Champions.
As a Champion, he possesses divine power beyond that of an ordinary individual.
Theodra's blessing allows him to enhance his physical abilities to supernatural levels. When drawing fully upon that power, Jerr'co can become considerably stronger and faster than his already imposing physique would normally allow.
He is also capable of channeling divine power into magical attacks when necessary.
These abilities do not replace his skill as a hunter.
Jerr'co still relies upon preparation, tracking, weapon mastery, terrain, and experience. His blessing simply allows those talents to be brought against threats that would otherwise be beyond the reach of an ordinary combatant.
Subtle signs of Theodra's influence can also be seen upon him. Some of the scars across his red skin have healed into pale, silvery-white marks, reflecting the silver motifs often associated with her Blessed.
To Jerr'co, his status as Champion is not proof of superiority.
It is an obligation to remain worthy of the deity who granted it.
Initiate Oath
"I will never kill an animal for sport alone."
This oath reflects Jerr'co's belief that the hunt should always serve a purpose. Killing for food, survival, protection, or necessity is acceptable; taking life purely for amusement is not.
Acolyte Oath
"I will never abandon a quarry after I have sworn to hunt it, until it is dead or captured."
Once Jerr'co formally accepts a quarry, he considers the hunt a binding responsibility. Distance, hardship, or danger do not release him from that commitment.
Champion Oath
"I will never abandon a settlement while a known monster still actively preys upon its people."
This oath reflects his responsibility as a Champion of Theodra. If a monster is actively preying upon a settlement, Jerr'co is bound to remain and confront the threat rather than leave its people to face it alone.
