[ theme ]
A monolith erected upon sandy shores. When blood is spilled around its base or onto the monolith directly, it soaks up through the sand into the monolith. It can be used as a power source for rituals, and an especially powerful one if someone has been sacrificed to it recently.
The monolith is desecrated if ever it is toppled. Expect divine retribution if that happens.
Commune With the Tides
Lingering around the monolith occasionally gives glimpses of the divine, or mad whispers that have the power to eventually drive people to despair.
A blessed of the Tides can kill someone at the base of the monolith, and then ask it the future. The Tides can tell you what will go into a situation - i.e., the size and tactics of an army marching to a battle - but not the outcome. I.e., who will win the battle.
Blood Tithe, Blood Tide
By sacrificing at the monolith, one may produce Maerling Liutentants. These maerlings only adopt the base telepathic ability and the looks of a Maerling. They are not able to progress as regular Maerlings are and are mostly as such for their appearance.
In God’s Image
Those who are sacrificed at the base of the altar may choose to return to life as a Maerling.
